New cloud-based asset management system for Landscape Services
On March 1st, our operational management team attended a two-hour training session on our brand-new asset management system, itemit!
Landscape Services is a specialist provider of commercial grounds care services throughout the Kent region, and beyond. Operating from our 15 key locations across the southeast we maintain a large variety of outdoor spaces, and as such we own and lease an extensive fleet of specialised vehicles and equipment to ensure we’re delivering the best possible service for our customers.
However, with over 70 vehicles and thousands of pieces of kit across all locations, we needed a way to better manage;
- Asset location
- Asset availability
- Utilisation rates for our equipment
- Defect reporting
- Servicing schedules
- Security measures and crime prevention
Our excellent operational team researched and trialled several management platforms, with some of our key goals being improved safety, compliance and efficiency through asset collection. After weeks of research and onboarding, we are pleased to announce our partnership with the experts at itemit.
Introducing itemit for Landscape Services
In a nutshell, itemit allows our management team to maximise the efficiency of their teams through the equipment they use. The app’s online storage capabilities mean we can upload service record history and user manuals for all equipment, and upkeep can be managed remotely with items easily recalled for servicing, MOT, and routine maintenance.
Itemit is a safe, secure digital platform which tags each asset with a unique code, which is then scanned by the employee to ‘check out’ the equipment used, and checked back in at the end of the day. This simple booking system has allowed us to assign a lot of our equipment to a team, giving us a better understanding of the asset requirements for each area unit and identify gaps within our service offering where efficiency could be improved through technology.
Better management of our assets will also mean lower running and operational costs for our business, and therefore more competitive pricing structures for our customers. Items which require booking, such as our remote-controlled robomower, can be assigned in advance to allow us to provide the most efficient service.
Over the past few months, Landscape Services has worked closely with the team at itemit to tag each of the vehicles and assets we own – including all tractors, strimmers and vans – and upload the items, along with all servicing and user manuals, to our cloud-based system. With our management team now trained on the system we are ready for rollout, and we can’t wait to see the results of this fantastic partnership realised over the new few months.
