When should you trim and prune your hedges?

However, it is important to recognise that all plant types may require different care depending on its growth rate and location; our free site visit will allow you to tailor a package to the requirements of your plants.
The best time to trim hedges and bushes is during their dormant period, which is typically in late winter or early spring, and we will often recommend a cut either side of this period to maintain a uniform and healthy look all year round. Trimming during this period allows for the removal of any dead, diseased or damaged wood, and promotes healthy growth. Younger, growing plants will require a much more frequent timetable of care, to allow for regular shaping, trimming and watering to train your plants into the desired shape. It is important to remember that hedges should not be cut between late March and August to avoid disturbing the nesting season of birds.

Where possible, we have begun replacing tools and equipment with battery powered or hybrid alternatives, including several commercial hedge trimmers. All cuttings will be removed from the property and taken to one of our depot locations to be disposed of responsibly or chipped.
