Our winter Floor Talk roundup

November saw the hosting of our Winter Floor Talk event, attended by staff across the business from all departments.

The three-day event, led by Director Phil Morgan and attended by reps from both HR and Health and Safety, took place across the county and covered a range of business updates, which were shared directly with our frontline teams. Some of the key takeaways from this quarter’s Talks included;

Changes within the Group - Landscape Services is just one of the many businesses which form the Commercial Services Group. As such we like to make sure our staff are kept updated on any structural changes which may affect them and their work. This quarter we gave an update on the three new companies joining the Group: Invicta Law, Cantium Business Solutions and The Education People.

Growth and opportunity – we were delighted to be able to share the successes of some of our most recent projects, including an exciting new contract we’ve won and securing a position on another framework (we can’t give too much away here 😉).

Uniforms - Earlier this year we trialled various uniform items and colours with our staff. This month we announced that we will be phasing out the grey from our uniforms, with all new starters to receive a navy uniform moving forward. We also handed out our new, navy beanie hats, which went down well particularly as the temperatures are dropping rapidly!

Staff appreciation – We welcomed eight new staff members to the team last month and said farewell to one colleague in Rainham as he retired after an epic 49 years of service.

Feedback from our customers - Over the past few months we’ve reached out to our customers to ask for their feedback on the services we offer and the staff who fulfil them. We used the floortalk event as an opportunity to share your feedback directly with the teams on the front line.

Training and development – we had a lot of updates to give both on the development of our staff and our equipment. We discussed our plans for continuing to move Landscape Services towards greener, more eco-effective machinery and equipment, gave an update on some new and exciting HAV technology we’ve been trialling, chainsaw training and the introduction of a new management pathway!

As with all Floor Talks, we had a brilliant week enjoying breakfast and a chat with our colleagues in ops. We’d like to thank everyone who attended across the week and look forward to the next one in March!
