Adding value to Cranbrook Library with KCC
Over the last couple of years, we have been working to further establish social value within the very bones of the contracts we hold, and the result has been fantastic with a variety of voluntary events held and environmentally conscious donations given. When the opportunity arose to support Kent County Council (KCC) in renovating and rejuvenating the outdoor area of the Cranbrook Library, we were delighted to help.
The Cranbrook Library is a valued space within Cranbrook and Sissinghurst, with local services, groups, activities and resources for the community. Its outdoor pond and seating area offers residents and visitors a peaceful space to sit and read, think or watch the wildlife – as well as a wonderful view of St Dunstan's Church. Unfortunately, the area had become overgrown, and so with the guidance and support of KCC, we got to work restoring the library’s open spaces to their former state.
Seven of our dedicated staff members volunteered their time and expertise for this project, and with assistance from KCC’s very own Robert Lovell, they cleared debris and brambles built up in the area, tidied the surroundings, and neatened up unruly bushes to make the pond visible again.
The result was a wonderfully open and welcoming space which the entire community can now enjoy. We take immense pride in having contributed to the recovery of this cherished area and our team are proud to have been involved in such a fantastic community project.
A huge thank you to our project team who contributed their time and energy into assisting the local community with this project, we hope the area can now be enjoyed and admired by all.
